“Booked a disabled room for my mother as she has Primary Progressive MS and mobility issues. I booked this room 10 months prior to my visit with my mother. I had been directly in contact with the hotel who assured me that we would have a wheel in shower. This was a birthday gift to my mother from me.
Upon arriving, it transpired that our room was “accessible” in the eyes of somebody who had clearly NEVER met a person with mobility issues. The bathroom had a bath with grab handles randomly thrown around the room. The handles were not even in places that make sense for use by a disabled person.
We immediately rang down to reception as this meant that my mother would not be able to wash for the duration of our stay. It took over 40 minutes and us reminding staff that we were waiting to be informed of what to do. This put a massive dampener on our night as we were due to attend a concert in the three arena and couldn’t get ready to leave. We were made to feel that this should be acceptable and that the room was almost accessible. We were offered two drinks vouchers for this.
Upon checkout the next day, we again raised our issues with the management. We did not feel listened to or valued as patrons of the hotel. I was so disappointed as I wanted my mother to enjoy this stay like anybody else could and had gone out of my way to contact the hotel prior to ensure this. Not 5 star service by any means. So so disappointing.”
