I wish it were possible to give no stars, but here we are. The room we were originally in was fair, although the sink didn't drain (they did fix that). We had ordered and were promised a rollaway bed for our final night. Didn't get delivered; asked as we were leaving for the wedding. Got stopped as we were exiting to be told it wouldn't fit in the room. (So why promise? Hmmm). Told they would have to give us another room to accommodate Silly me: I thought they were going to ADD a room. Nope: at midnight, after a night of partying, dancing, etc. we were told we needed to PACK UP our room and physically move to a new space. Not quite what I had in mind, but no choices available. Moved into a room where there was enough bed space, but the bathroom door wouldn't open all the way (because the toilet kept it from doing so.) ZERO counter space in the bath either. Could not wait to leave. Bellman dumped bags in the lobby, leaving us to lug them down the front stairs ourselves. Public toilet we used in the lobby was literally filled with feces, while other stalls had no toilet paper. DISASTER. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!

My wife and I have a lovely 6 night stay at The James. The bed was so comfy I wish we could have taken it home. The staff were always super helpful and friendly. Also it's location is perfect for transport up and down the island! You can get almost anywhere from the metro links. Would throughly recommend!

Tivemos um tempo maravilhoso em Nova York e o James Nomad foi um lugar perfeito para nossa família. Está em uma ótima localização, muito central para tudo o que queríamos fazer. A equipe não poderia ser melhor e mais acolhedora. Sério, eles eram tão legais! Adoramos o serviço de café pela manhã e happy hour à noite. Adorava voltar para casa depois de um longo dia de caminhada e explorar a cidade ao seu belo lobby e um copo de vinho. O James é um hotel muito legal sem ser muito tenso. (Exceto pelo bar no andar de baixo. . . não afiliado ao hotel, mas os anfitriões eram um pouco arrogantes.)

Stayed here two nights. Well-located, great amenities, and my room was clean, comfortable, and quieter than a lot of NY hotels. Most notably, the staff is absolutely lovely! Everyone I met went above and beyond to ensure my stay was wonderful.

We had a wonderful time in New York and The James Nomad was a perfect place for our family. It is in a great location, very central to everything we wanted to do. The staff couldn't be nicer and more accommodating. Seriously, they were so nice! We loved the coffee service in the morning and happy hour in the evenings. Loved coming home after a long day of walking and exploring the city to their beautiful lobby and a glass of wine. The James is a very cool hotel without being too uptight. (Except for the bar downstairs... not affiliated with the hotel, but the hosts there were a bit snooty.)

Nossa estadia no James foi ótima! O quarto era espaçoso e silencioso. O hotel oferece uma hora de vinho à noite e café e chá pela manhã (sem café descafeinado ou chá de ervas). A localização torna-o facilmente acessível a partir da Grand Central Station e da estação Penn. Há restaurantes e cafés no bairro. Um tapete de ioga foi fornecido e havia espaço suficiente na sala para ioga. No geral, uma estadia muito agradável. Com certeza voltaríamos no futuro!

Our stay at the James was great! The room was spacious and quiet. The hotel offers an evening wine hour and coffee and tea in the morning (no decaf coffee or herbal tea). The location makes it easily accessible from both Grand Central Station and Penn station. There are restaurants and coffee shops in the neighborhood. A yoga mat was provided and there was enough space in the room for yoga. Overall a very nice stay. We would definitely return in the future!

Ficamos duas noites no The James Hotel, Nomad e foi muito satisfeito com a resposta do gerente Mr. Kent Fletcher. Quando um grupo de pessoas barulhentas festa de casamento estavam perturbando a nossa estadia no hotel, ele rapidamente se ofereceu para mover-nos para um quarto atualizado (suite) em um andar diferente. A localização é excelente e nós definitivamente ficar lá novamente. O original sala foi pequeno, mas tinha todas as comodidades que precisávamos e era muito limpo. Stayed two nights at The James Hotel, Nomad and was very pleased with the responsiveness from the manager Mr. Kent Fletcher. When a group of noisy wedding party individuals were disturbing our stay at the hotel, he quickly offered to move us to an upgraded room (suite) on a different floor. The location is great and we will definitely stay there again. The original room was small, but had all the amenities we needed and was very clean. Only thing missing was a complementary cup of coffee in the morning.😁.

Estou escrevendo este comentário depois de ficar em outro hotel próximo (o Herald Square Hyatt), e prefiro muito mais ele, James. O quarto não era apenas maior, mas tinha uma cama muito mais confortável. Além disso, animais de estimação são permitidos, mas você nunca saberia disso --- meu quarto estava impecável, ao contrário do meu quarto Hyatt. O James também tem um restaurante muito bom anexado a ele, Scarpetta. Se eu ficar nesta área de Manhattan novamente (e há negócios muito bons aqui), vou procurar o James.

Nós reservamos vários quartos no The James para um fim de semana prolongado com amigos. Os quartos e o serviço foram excelentes. O Jimmy Suite King era um quarto de bom tamanho, especialmente para Nova York, que apreciamos. Mas eu teria preferido um banheiro um pouco maior e um quarto um pouco menor - o banheiro é minúsculo!A sala parecia meio triste. Estava escuro e parecia muito esparso. Definitivamente poderia usar um pouco de refrescante para se sentir um pouco mais luxuoso.Os funcionários estavam bem, embora o carregador tenha ficado um pouco preocupado depois de nos dizer que poderia conseguir a chave da academia para nós se não tivéssemos cartões de vacinação para mostrar. Fora isso, ele foi muito prestativo, trazendo água, copos extras e roupas de cama para arrumar o sofá-cama.A limpeza da sala não foi minuciosa. Copos sujos foram deixados para trás e não substituídos por limpos. Garrafas de água vazias foram deixadas para trás e não foram substituídas. Algumas toalhas de rosto usadas foram deixadas no banheiro enquanto outras toalhas eram retiradas e substituídas. Tudo parecia aleatório.Tivemos que ligar para a recepção algumas vezes porque as coisas que solicitávamos vinham muito fragmentadas. Pedimos vidros limpos e porque os interruptores de luz não estavam funcionando. Os óculos chegaram, mas ninguém veio buscar as luzes. Finalmente, depois de ligar novamente, alguém veio e olhou para as luzes e, aparentemente, as lâmpadas precisavam ser conectadas a algum dispositivo para usar o interruptor. O homem que veio disse que iria procurar um, e quando perguntamos como podíamos desligar a luz se ele não acertasse um, nos disseram: "Desligue-o". Realmente, por $ 1k / noite, temos que desligar e ligar a lâmpada !! Vamos!Pelo lado positivo, o restaurante, Scarpetta, era fantástico.

I'm writing this review after staying in another nearby hotel (the Herald Square Hyatt), and I much prefer he James. The room was not only bigger but had a much more comfortable bed. Also, pets are allowed but you would never have known it---my room was spotless unlike my Hyatt room. The James also has a very good restaurant attached to it, Scarpetta. If I stay in this area of Manhattan again (and there are very good deals here), I will look for The James.

The Jimmy Suite King was a good sized room, especially for NYC, which we appreciated. But I would have preferred a slightly larger bathroom and a slightly smaller bedroom - the bathroom is tiny!The room felt kind of sad. It was dark, and felt pretty sparse. It could definitely use some refreshing to feel a bit more luxurious.The staff were fine, though the bellman was a little concerning after he told us he could get the key to the gym for us if we didn't have vaccination cards to show. Otherwise, he was very helpful, bringing us water, extra glasses, and bedding to make up the sofa bed.The cleaning of the room was not thorough. Dirty glasses were left behind and not replaced with clean ones. Empty water bottles were left behind and not replaced. Some used washcloths were left in the bathroom while other towels were taken and replaced. It all felt haphazard.We had to call the front desk a few times because the things we requested came very piecemeal. We called for clean glasses, and because the light switches were not working. The glasses came, but no one came for the lights. Finally, after calling again, someone came and looked at the lights, and apparently the lamps needed to be plugged into some device in order to use the switch. The man who came said he would go look for one, and when we asked how we were to turn off the light if he couldn't fine one, we were told, "Unplug it." Really, for $1k/night, we have to unplug and plug in the lamp!! Come on!On the bright side, the restaurant, Scarpetta, was fantastic.

Wonderful experience at The James! My friends and I had the best time. The rooms were clean. We had a suite with two bathrooms which was amazing, and the staff was so friendly. They had a hot chocolate happy hour at night which was the best! 10/10 recommend!

We booked several rooms at The James for a long weekend with friends. The rooms and the service were terrific. We also really enjoyed the large lobby area, where we all could gather for coffee in the morning or after dinner. (They have an afternoon wine reception, which we missed each day!) The location provides easy access to the subway, though we walked most places, and took a few cabs. I’d gladly return there in future trips.

Check in tarde da noite após a festa de Halloween, como 3h e check-out às 11h. O quarto era tão pequeno, a vista era para o lixo lá fora, sem copos para bebidas e sem taxa de água para beber. No dia seguinte, eles me cobram 49,50 $ de “taxa de serviço” extra, então eu pago 300 (taxas e impostos incluídos) por um pequeno quarto com vista para o lixo, 49,50 $ de “taxa de serviço” que ninguém me disse quando fizemos o check in e 24,97 $ por 1 refrigerante e 1 garrafa pequena de água. Total 375 $. Por esse preço você pode conseguir um quarto melhor com a bela vista, duas garrafas de água grátis e copos para bebidas. Eles nem mesmo mostram que 49,50 $ "taxa de serviço" no recibo. My stay was easy breezy. The staff at The James made sure we had everything we needed and always made us feel like their priority. Our Suite was perfect for two teens and two moms! Cool and quirky, while still feeling refined and upscale. We had plenty of room to hangout and get down time. The location is close to so many wonderful restaurants and shops, as well as quick access to the crosstown bus, and subway stations.

Check in late night after Halloween party like 3 am and checkout at 11 am. Room was so small, the view was to the garbage outside, no glasses for drinks and no fee water for drinking. Next day they charge me extra 49,50$ “service fee”, so I pay 300(taxes and fees included) for a small room with garbage view, 49,50$ “service fee” which nobody tell me when we checked in and 24.97$ for 1 soda and 1 small bottle of water. Total 375$. For this price you can get better room with the great view, couple bottles with the free water and glasses for drinks. They don’t even show that 49,50$ “service fee” in receipt. It’s not about 50$, it’s about trust. Will never stay here again!

Very nice hotel in a nice location. The staff was very nice from the time you walked through the door. One flagged down a cab for us which was greatly appreciated. The rooms were clean and it was very quiet. Will stay again when I'm in the area.

Liguei para a recepção e eles me informaram que não compareceram, e me deram o número do telefone da contabilidade. Liguei várias vezes na semana passada, mas ninguém atende. A caixa de correio de voz está cheia, então não pude deixar uma mensagem. A recepção finalmente me deu um número direto para alguém da contabilidade, mas ela não respondeu. Deixei uma mensagem há vários dias, mas ninguém me ligou de volta. Ive também enviou um e-mail para a caixa de atendimento ao cliente do hotel. Eu entendo que as coisas estão ocupadas, mas já se passou mais de uma semana e não cheguei a lugar nenhum. Este nível de serviço merece 1 estrela. Eu frequento Nova York e posso definitivamente dizer que não vou ficar aqui no futuro.

Update: The James called me back and offered apologies and assured me they would refund my card. Although it took a while, I appreciate that they owned it and apologized for the service.I booked a trip to visit NYC from august 19 through the 22nd for the auto show. Unfortunately because it was cancelled, I had to cancel my trip. After cancelling my reservation, I still received a charge on my card for the first night. I called the front desk and they advised me it showed up as a no show, and they gave me the phone number to accounting. I’ve called several times over the past week but no one answers. The voicemail box is full so I was unable to leave a message. The front desk finally gave me a direct number to someone in accounting but she did not answer. I left a message several days ago but no one has called me back. Ive also emailed the customer service box at the hotel. I understand that things are busy, but it’s been more than a week and I haven’t gotten anywhere. This level of service deserves 1 star. I frequent NYC and I can definitely say I won’t be staying here in the future.

Ótimo local. A equipe foi super simpática e saiu de seu caminho para tornar a nossa estadia agradável.Nosso quarto não estava pronto a tempo, então ele nos entregou uma garrafa de vinho e sugeriu que fôssemos passar um tempo no saguão. Great spot. The staff was super friendly and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant.Our room wasn’t ready on time so the handed us a bottle of wine and suggested we hang out in the lobby. The room was ready minutes later.Every interaction with the staff was genuine and kind. Everyone on the team seemed to want to help, flash a smile, and make our stay nice.We will be back for sure.
